About the Author

Hi there, my name’s Vicki! I’m an aspiring children’s author based in San Francisco, California.

I lived in Tokyo, Japan for three years as a kid—this is where I learned how animated characters can have such a powerful impact on our lives. My parents and I visited Tokyo Disney almost every weekend, building lasting memories together that I still treasure today.

In Japan, I discovered Miss Bunny (Thumper’s girlfriend from Bambi). Although she’s not a popular Disney character in the US, she was huge in Japan while I was living there! As a kid, I collected her stuffed animals, merchandise, and stationery (and that’s how my love for pet bunnies started, too!).

When I moved back to California, 10-year-old Vicki was so disappointed because of Miss Bunny’s lack of fans in the US. From then on, whenever I cuddled my Miss Bunny stuffed animal or used my Miss Bunny pencils, I thought about the memories I made with my family in Tokyo. It was truly comforting to have Miss Bunny while assimilating back into American culture.

Fast forward 13 years: I’m now a Digital Marketing Manager by trade, but I love to write outside the office. I started this StellaLou World to share the stories of Duffy & Friends (and merch updates, because who doesn’t love Tokyo Disney merch?).

Why Duffy & Friends?

Duffy & Friends are insanely popular in Japan, Hong Kong, and Shanghai—but they don’t get enough love in the USA. In fact, Disney tried to bring Duffy & ShellieMay to Disney World and Disneyland, but the characters did not catch on.

I believe it’s because there’s never been strong, relatable stories dedicated to Duffy & Friends. Here in the US, we’re used to seeing a movie, then purchasing the merchandise after building an emotional connection with our favorite character.

But what if we could bring Duffy & Friends to life through short stories? That’s why I started StellaLou World’s blog and Instagram.
